Lancashire boards 3 and 9 were unrated as at 1 September 2021. Board 9 had a 1 April 2022 rating of 1855 and is therefore ineligible for this U1850 competition. Board 3 was unrated as at 1 April 2022 but permission to play had not been sought. The results of these boards for the purposes of the match score are adjusted to Devon wins. A two point penalty also applies for 2 ineligible players. The games concerned will be rated as played.

Lancs v Devon u1850
Board 3 permission needed to be sought from you - can you show us this in your new rules please. And what would you have done - looked at the ECF ratings (as we did) and found his latest grade (and all those before and since) were below 1850.
Board 9 also had no grade in September through not playing during coronavirus. His earliest grade after September 2021 was 1825 according to your own ECF ratings. Are you going to default players as their grades increase each month during the stages, in which case Devon board one is defaulted, and default children who improve? Of course this would be nonsense and impractical.
Lancashire won a good contest through chess playing, applying common sense during a situation (Covid) none of us have faced before. The ECF said they would do everything to help get OTB chess playing going again - applying common sense here would be a start.
