A cold night's chess
On a very cold evening both teams produced some interesting games of chess. Wimborne got off to a flying start when Graham's opponent miscalculated a combination that won him a pawn but lost a rook. Bill's position looked awkward, and Martin converted well. On my board Chip dropped a centre pawn, but it seemed to work out well for him as I struggled to find constructive moves and I was more than happy to take the draw offer. That left Eddies game to report on. Initially I thought Eddie had a really nice position with a promising king side attack, but he seemed to drift and black took control. After a tense middle game an opposite colour bishop ending followed and despite being two pawns down the position was equal. Ian I hand the captaincy back to you!
