Match report from Chris Lane:
All games were hard fought. Anton and Finn beat strong opponents.
Unfortunately Chris overreached in the middle game and snatched a loss from the jaws of a draw.
In the end Southbourne were glad as a team to get a draw.
With thanks to the Highcliffe team for making this an enjoyable evening of chess.

This is the second of many
This is the second of many matches between Southbourne and Highcliffe and as usual it was another terrific battle. Highcliffe welcomed back Mike Tew and Mike played a rock solid game and beat Chris. First to finish was Dan on board 4 outgraded by nearly 300 points played another mature game belying his rating of 1121, beating Highcliffes nemesis Ken who has often been Highcliffes executioner. Finn on board 2 steam rolled John Jenkins in brutal fashion . On board 1 Anton came from a pawn down for most of the game to win the endgame against the in form Ron. So 2-2 a fair result . Good to see all our Southbourne friends and good luck in the rest of the season. Best regards RU on behalf of captain JJ
