Weymouth welcomed Yeovil to their first match in the Dorset League. I had to pull out at the last minute due to an adverse reaction to the Covid jab I had the previous day. On paper Weymouth's advantage also lay only on the top board. Kevin got a very good position from early on and after getting two pieces for a rook and achieving a big pawn centre he went on to win comfortably. Frank got a very nice position after his opponent seemed to be playing on only the first two ranks. A serious of minor piece exchanges significantly reduced the advantage and a draw resulted. Jon found a perpetual in what looked like a losing position. The match was decided when Steves opponent offered a draw when a clear pawn up. I wonder if his teammates made him walk home.
