Things looked good for Highcliffe early on as Tim won on board 4 but Mads and Bruce lost tight games, a draw was agreed on board 1 to seal the match. Well played Weymouth, worthy champions and winners tonight RU

Dorset League - Weymouth A vs Highcliffe A
Ronnie seemed to get his pieces on all the wrong squares and it didn't surprise me when he lost material. A very good game played by Tim. On board 3 Jon played his best game since returning to chess and Kevin also played a nice game maintaining a small but persistent advantage. Bruce blundered, but he was dropping a pawn anyway. I got a great position against Jamie but had to make a critical decision as to whether to sacrifice a piece just at the time Ronnie lost on Bd 4. I ducked out and immediately regretted the decision with the game back to equal. I rebuilt a small advantage, and could have played on for a win but with both players having 5 minutes or less left on the clock and a draw was good enough for the team - I offered the draw which Jamie had little choice but to accept. Looking forward to our next encounter against Highcliffe later in the season for another exciting match.
