Winning some tempi against the queen with the queenside pawns led to a position where black had c b and a past pawns that suffocated white until he blundered a piece and a few moves later resigned. Second to finish was board 4 and Stefan turned up 22 minutes late due to transport issues, however he played on instinct as a result and with some good tactical play won the game. Board 2 was very closed and Paul took the draw rather than risking anything to secure the victory. Finally board 1 was a real tussle, with Malcolm very solid until finally with low time Steve’s advantage turned into a blunder from white securing Bournemouth the 3.5-0.5 win.
