Our second match against Bournemouth E, although a few different faces since our last meeting.
I think it’s worth pointing out, that the grade difference was significant between the teams. Not that it always matters : -)
Board 2 was first to finish, with both players down to a queen and rooks. Jorgen managed to get the upper hand and moved a rook up. I didn’t catch much more of the game but Jake resigned not long after.
Board 1 was next to finish. The game looked even whenever I checked but it appeared that Graham was beginning to break through and then Tony’s time ran out. So a second game for Wimborne.
Board 3 was next to complete, also seemed close from where I was sitting but John also ended his game with a victory.
I played board 4, all started very well and even into the mid game, I “felt” like I was controlling the game, even the engine thought so. However, Manuela played a great game of chess and weathered every attack I launched. Then the counter attack began, resulting in an excellent mating net, which I will be showing to my junior chess players on Saturday. Well played Manuela, I think you played a superb game.
So Wimborne won the match but no thanks to me. Time for a review of my game or I might just take up Tiddlywinks. Good luck to Bournemouth with your final matches.

I think Simon summed up the evening of Chess perfectly. Well played to Manuela, it was exciting to watch the ending, unlucky Simon. Congratulations to an excellent Wimborne team for hosting.
