A Close Encounter
Thanks to Barry and his team for an enjoyable evening's chess. The two John's on board 3 were the first to finish with an agreed "gentlemanly draw" , Barry and I were probing each other's defences without much impact and after trading queens also agreed a draw.
Meanwhile a ding dong battle was developing between Ross and Josh. Josh a piece down launched a devastating attack on the Kings side and then sacrificed a rook to achieve mate. This left the match hanging on board 4 where Dan and Rachel were evenly matched. In the end Dan's knight seemed to be giving him a slight edge over Rachel's bishop, in a center congested with pawn's. But time was marching on and a draw was agreed.
