Time control: 110 mins plus 10 seconds per move.

Unfinished game so 0-0 seems a fair

The two captains, acting jointly as arbiter of the match, have agreed the 8-4 result. I would appeciate it unauthorised outside parties not at the match would refrain from making alterations in LMS to those results.

Board 6 0-0 fair compromise

twall's picture

Northumberland have qualified as NCCU Champions (we have the same match points and game points as Yorkshire, but won our individual match). We do not agree with the NCCU CC Controller's decision to score Board 6 0-0. The team captains agreed the result as a 1-0 default to Northumberland's Andrew Dunn. But this was later overruled by CC Controller Bryan Bainbridge after lobbying efforts by various individuals from Yorkshire.
The reasons for claiming the Board 6 default are:
a) The Yorkshire player (Adam Lang) turned up 1 hour and 10 minutes after the scheduled start time.
b) The start of the match had been delayed due to Yorkshire not handing in their team list until the start time of 1:30pm, in clear contravention of the rules. (Yorkshire's players had seen their opponents on our team list since 1:10pm).
c) The Yorkshire captain insisted that play start on Board 6. The Northumberland player only played under protest.
d) Northumberland had tried to forgive Yorkshire's violations, but we felt that they contravened the spirit of fair play, and that is why we claimed Board 6 as a time default.
Ultimately, as Hans Niemann famously said, we are happy to let the chess speak for itself in future.
We hope that county matches can be played in a friendly spirit, but we are also going to call for improvements in the competition rules and guidelines from next season.
