The MCF rules state that, apart from the bottom two boards, a player in a cup final must have already played at least 2 matches for that club in the MCF that season. Martyn Hamer (Atherton board 2) had only previously played one match and was therefore ineligible for the cup final. Therefore, while the result of the individual game will still be sent as such to the ECF for rating, it will be awarded to 3Cs for MCF match result purposes.
Therefore, the final result is 3-3, although Atherton win the match on board count.
