First game to finish was board 1. Queens off the board and neither side wanted to push and weaken themselves. Draw agreed. Board 2 again finished peacefully after Footner had the better of the opening and early middlegame winning a pawn. Sam then managed to claw back a pawn and we came to a position where he had 4 pawn islands versus 2 but had more dynamic pieces so a draw was offered and agreed. Board 3 saw Alex winning the exchange and then converting this into the win. Finally board 4 involved a rook sacrifice followed by an attack where black had to at least give up the queen for a minor piece to avoid checkmate, so it would have been rook and a piece for a queen, however he instead decided to resign and not prolong the misery. This means a 3-1 win for Bournemouth and the first points of the season!
