New player for Lancaster was Tak-Shing Chan.
An exciting match. Lancaster went 2-0 up with boards 2 and 3 finishing first. Both after the Lancaster players sacrificed a pawn to set up a strong attack which led to them winning material. On board 4, Peter was up a knight for a pawn, and whilst made to work very hard to convert, was able to make the match 2-1.
The match was decided on board 1, where James wen a pawn up, but Martin had counterplay with more active pieces and a passed pawn he was able to push. Martin then appeared to offer James the opportunity to win two rooks for a queen, but after James took the first rook, a clever intermediate move left Martin a rook up.
