Board 2 for Poulton was Jakub Sosinski, and Board 4 for Morecambe was J McKiernan.

The first board to finish was board 1 -- and I did not get to see any of that game. On board 4, black won a pawn in the opening, and then white sacrificed three further pawns for an attack against black's king, which was still in the centre. But accurate defense, and eventual trading of pieces, led to a comfortable win for black.

On Board 3, John entered an opposite coloured bishop endgame two pawns up. He traded down to having connected a and b pawns. Any chance of Peter holding out for a draw were scuppered as John was able to blockage blacks king from accessing the a to c files.

Board 4 ended in a pawns plus knight end-game. Black was a pawn up at one stage, but eventually both players were able to win the other's pawns until each just had a knight and pawn -- at which stage the draw was agreed.
