Board 3 was first to finish -- with Sebastien winning a couple of pawns in the opening, and exchanging down to an end-game. The opposite coloured bishops gave Juris some hope of holding, but Sebastien was able to convert relatively easily.
The match on Board 2 was close until, I am told, Danny was able to promote a pawn. On board 1, Paul O'Mara was able to trap a bishop, and went a piece for two pawns up. Black had some counter play, but a further blunder in time-trouble was enough for white to win.
On Board 4, Matthew had not realised he had reached move 35, and sacrificed a piece when he thought he was in time trouble.
Well played to Preston 4 for a convincing win.
