Board 3 was the first to finish. Peter won a piece and went on to win the game. On Board 2, Dave Aspinall went an exchange up early in the game but Nigel managed to steer the game into a drawn opposite-coloured bishop ending. Darren had more material in his game against David but David had slightly more active pieces - again, this resulted in a draw. On Board 1 Jakub sacrificed a knight to get a good attack going against Phil's king. He had more of the initiative in the time scramble that followed and gained Poulton 2 a 2-2 result.
