We waited for 10 additional minutes for the Petts Woods & Orpington team to arrive but unfortunately the team did not show up. We started the clocks at 7.40pm in absence of the opposing team.
All clocks were stopped at 8:15PM. Paul Jones (Petts Woods captain) informed me that this fixture was missed on their end and therefore a default could be claimed from our side.

Farce is the word that comes to mind. This is the second 4-0 recorded for default by Petts Wood. It means the second qualifier to the semi-finals is very likely to be determined by defaults.
However, having just played in the SCCU u1650 final match with qualification to progress hanging on (my) last board playing, the result was determined by the incompetence of Anthony the Middlesex organiser who couldn`t manage to apply a small time penalty for an illegal move. His meltdown prompted abandonment of a won game to a draw leaving Middlesex to be the qualifier.
Perhaps I take these things too seriously.
